Is that for clothes and food. Or £450 just for the groceries. Thank you by the way. You have managed to answer all my questions. Very much appreciated

The Official Receiver will allow each bankrupt person £250 on housekeeping. You could try putting £100 for the child. Likewise with clothing, each bankrupt is allowed £43 and you could put down £20 per child. However, if you receive child benefit, the Official Receiver may discount this from your income and disregard the expenditure for the child.

All the best

The Insolvency Srvice sguidelines last updated in March 2009 provide for £504 for two adults and two kids for Housekeeping which includes food and cleaning. Forjust one child you would be allowed about £450. If you have special needs you can argue for more allowance.
For clothing you will be allowed about £125.
Hope this helps

Think I had a strict OR then

for 2 adults and 3 teenagers, we were allowed

£540 food and housekeeping
£80 clothing (I did put £100 but he said "No, thats too high, you are only allowed £80)

Hi amyc,

As a single man, I was allowed £250 housekeeping and £50 clothing. This included haircuts, dry cleaning, etc.

Hope this helps.

As you can see from the above, it is not an exact science but as Steve Thatcher and I have stated, there are guidelines to which Offcial Receivers should adhere. I do believe that jane.I did have a harsh OR who certainly did not go by the guidelines. However as I mentioned earlier, it seems a lot depends on the child and Welfare benefits that you are receiving.

well we have not been buying clothes recently because we have been skint but i think around £60 for all 3 of us would be sufficient. Food iwould probabaly say is around £400 to £420 a month.
