Hi All,

Hope everyone is well,

We were discharged in Nov 09, I have a question regarding my work pension, although I stated I had one to OR I was never asked for Account no etc and recieved no correspondence concerning this. A friend of mine has recently gone BR and her OR has asked for Acct Nos etc and said there could be a problem later in life when she makes a claim on her pension .
Once discharged does the OR have any hold over my pension, and am I paying into something each month for nothing to have it taken away in 20 years ??

Any advice appreciated

Thanks Michelle

Personally i would contact the OR who you dealt with and ask for confimation of his non interest in it then you know for sure but if it government backed there should be no problem

I have NHS pension too and the OR never asked for details of it and had no interest in it because it cannot be touched until I retire so I presume you will be ok

Hi I just wanted to ask about private pensions as well.

I'm filling out the State of Affairs form and it actually asks for:

Section 3 : Assets
12. Pension policies and other pension entitlements

3.4 Apart from state benefits, do you have or have you had any personal pension arrangements?

It then asks for the policy number, how much I've paid into it, when are the payments due to start and what is the value.

I've got £5000 so far because as I was born and lived in another country, I heard you can't start a state pension until you've been working here for 15 years! So I opened a private one. It's all I've got for when I retire and I'm scared they'll take it away from me. I was told and have read on many websites that they won't look at your pension because they're not creditors but will they take it off me somehow?
