You will need to let the OR know of any changes in your income before you are discharged. It depends upon the OR and the amount but generally if overtime is a one-off and not a large amount then you can keep it. With bonuses you are likely to lose some, if not all, of it depending on the amount.
me and my partner both get £500 membership payment each in july. its a one off payment and it goes straight into our wages, we also get taxed on it aswell. i am guessing this will all be taken by the or?
no the OR doesn't look at your wage slips but you are legally obliged to tell him of any income increase whether it is a one off or not.

so what would happen if you did not tell them. not that i would hide it, i would be too scared of them finding out. so in your opinion we will probabaly not see anything of our bonus then?
at any time during BR the OR could request to see your bank statements so it would then put you in a bad position as for the bonus it will probably depend on the individual OR and how is was put to him , eg. we have received this one off bonus but the washing machine has just broken can we keep some of it please?

would they not then ask for reciepts to confirm whether washing machine had been fixed. i dont expect to keep it all but a little bit would be nice. i know everyone feeling the pinch but i would be happy with just keeping some of it. thanks for your advice
that was just an example if your washing machine had broken i am not suggesting you make something up but most people can find a reason to spend a little money if offered it, it would just have to be a good one for the OR

I was given an annual payment of £100 in December and I informed the RTLU, who then claimed 70% of it, so I ended up with £30. In hindsight I should have spoken to the OR as I rather think she would have let me keep it as it was not a consistent payment.
