But I still cannot decide what is the best thing to do for the best; either to stick it out here in a career I have just about had enough of or to file for bankruptcy?
At the moment as some of you know, I work two jobs and approx 18 hrs a day, 5 days a week and am keeping my head above water, paying everyone with very little money left.
Over the past few months I have retrained to become a class two lorry driver, but it seems that the hourly rate is somewhat lower than my current salary, plus the added fact that in my current job I have tied accommodation, so going on to driving would mean additional expenses with paying for rent. I cannot file for bankruptcy where I currently work and live because it would be a breach of my employment contract.
During the past few days I have made enquires about an IVA, it all looks good and could work, if I was staying where I am and I enjoyed my job, but I don’t.
My wife doesn’t really like talking about this, I try to explain the options but as she’s stated, “I don’t know what to advise” but think of the children.
Would have thought I would have had the support of my mom and dad, brothers and sister. All the other siblings have turned to my parents for help, either financial or to stay in the family home, but when I’ve asked for help the subject is a none starter. And if I told them, I would just be the height of family gossip.
First and foremost I have to consider the interests of my children, my daughter who is starting school in September needs addition support in her first year. The support works from the local education departments and social departments have all stated that where we live is unsuitable to bring up young children. We live in a flat with no garden area and two because of the business below due to noise restrictions. They have informed us that they will see what they can do on the housing front, but then it’s a catch 22 because if they found us somewhere, I cant afford it anyway. As I see it, my only option is to move in to a rented place, change jobs, and go truck driving and file for bankruptcy, all at the same time.

Hi Homer,
You have got a great deal to consider, but only you can make the decision.
Have you thought about talking to the Housing association?
If you are going Bankrupt and losing your job you will be able to receive assistance whereby they will either house you or can assist with rental payments on a private rented property.
This would assist you in starting your new job and building up your working hours and could also move you to a more desirable location and a house with a Garden for the children
