I am due to be automatically discharged on 30 March 2010. Can you tell me please what happens after this? I have read on the boards that you have to pay for a Certificate of Discharge. Will the Courts not provide this for you automatically? Will I then be free from all restrictions? Will I then be free from the OR once and for all?

Thank you!

First of all congratulations on almost being at the end!

If you want a certificate of discharge from the court this costs around £60 and you have to apply to the court. When you are discharged print off a copy of your entry on the insolvency register as this is often accepted if you need proof of discharge.

Providing you don't have a BRU you will be free of the restrictions of BR, and if you have no IPA you will no longer have to notify the OR of any change in circumstance. If you do have an IPA you must tell them of any changes for the duration of the IPA.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

30 IPA payments made, 6 to go - the end is in sight!
