Not sure if anybody else has come across this - The OR's examiner said it's policy that Bankrupts from my court are not be entitled to Early Discharge if they'd used any form of credit in the 12 months prior to their court date?
Using credit just before declaring BR can be a reason why you won't get an ED and if you use credit knowing that you won't be paying it back it can also get you a BRU in extreme circumstances.
I used my credit cards about 3 months before declaring BR and received an ED so this may only be a rule in some offices.
The examiner was really only interested in how I paid the Bankruptcy filing fees.
I didn't receive Early Discharge (as I had used credit in the 12 months leading up to Bankruptcy).
However, my credit file was updated 4 months into the Bankruptcy period to show the date of discharge as 12 months from the date of Bankruptcy (i.e. 8 months in the future and the case had been closed).
As you say, must just be the local policy set by the Official Receiver.
