Hi all,

Just to say we renewed our buildings insurance on our BTL this week.

We used AXA - they were brilliant.

We put the policy in my wifes name (so as to assist as she is not BR).

They asked the "standard" question - "Has anyone in the household ever been BR..." Sue said yes.

A quick call to us at home later and the policy was approved.

Just whilst on the subject of insurance for BRs - my motor policy is with SAGA - I am over 50 so made a general enquiry when the policy was being renewed as "Aviva" do not normally accept BR people as policy holders - despite the fact I had been with them for years and years etc etc... Obviously, SAGA have an age criteria - but if you are over the age of 50 and looking, try them

Hope this assists, Richard

Good stuff. Did AXA let you pay monthly? When my fiancee was on gocompare.com 'that question' was asked I noticed (although she was able to answer 'no'!) so it did prick a few concerns for when I go BR in a few months time. Then again, as I will be living in her house after she buys the policy I guess that it doesn't matter. It would just be if we needed to change policy for any reason and I have been declared BR.

Hi,

Yes, a £44.00 down payment and 9 monthly payments of £21.00

I highly recomend them, Richard

We had a problem getting contents insurance when I was BR. Even though the insurance was in Dave's name a lot of companies weren't interested, and the fact that our house has flooded in the past (1947!!!) limited us even further. Luckily we went with Lloyds through the AA, although we do have a very high excess!

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

32 IPA payments made, 4 to go - the end is in sight!
