Hi all
I am going to court next week for my BR hearing and although this may sound a silly question, could anyone tell me what paperwork i need to take with me, obviously i have the credit card and bank statements ready as well as tenancy agreement and current amount of rent i pay but is there anything else i need eg utility bills etc, many thanks for youre response, one more thing, how many copies of form 6.27 & 6.28 do i need to take as i have done these online, is it 1 or 2 copies i need. |

Hi OTR,
Best to phone the court before hand to double check how many copies they require. Some want just the original and some want 2 copies, just give them a call, they'll tell you what the procedure is.
You wont need bank & CC statements for the court, it's the Official Receiver who will ask you for these, so keep hold of them for later once you've heard from the OR.
The only other things you will need is the fee which I believe is now £600 each (if its you and your wife) and then just some change for the coffee machine and maybe a book/magazine as you will probably be waiting around for a bit.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

DavidF has provided all of the information and a book is definitely handy as you may be hanging around for a couple of hours. Good luck and it will all be over before you know it. |

Hi
Have you booked an appointment or is your court one that has a "walk in" procedure?
You may (as already suggested) want to call them to check on how many copies they require and whether you will see the DJ. More and more courts are not requiring the petitioner to see the judge these days.
You may want to ask about when you see the OR staff too - some courts have a direct link and you have a phone call from the OR whilst you are still in the court.
Yes, you will need the £600.00 - good luck and let us know how you get on, Richard

good luck OTR
easy to say but try and relax tonight
tommorrow will fly and you can take a breath then start a debt free future.
If any creditors ring you tonight it is really too late for them to get to court before you, so no harm in telling them that you are petitioning for BR, others may disagree but again your choice
good luck again regards Richard |

Well just got back from court and it all went well and as of 9.50 today i was officially made bankrupt. I have already had meeting made with O/R for next thursday, this has to be face to face as i am self employed but apparently this is the norm wnen you are self employed. So everything is going well and the lady at the court who dealt with me was first class, i was dealt with in a dignified and non judgemental approach, so it wasnt as scary as i thought and i will get a good nights sleep tonight, once again many thanks for all your support and i will keep you posted as to how the meeting goes. |
