hi, i am a sole trader who went bankrupt early this month.
is there a business bank account that i can open while still bankrupt?
i have read on a web site that there is a company who will arrange this for you but they will charge you £199.

Hi Leslie.p and welcome to the forum.

Business bank accounts are not subject to the same credit checking as personal accounts, and as such, should be a little easier to obtain. I've heard that Abbey have been known to give business accounts to undischarged bankrupts.

Hope this helps!

Hi Les,

Did you owe Abbey any money when you went BR?

no i didn't owe abbey any money, infact there is still £265 in the account.
if i want this money refunded to me then i need to send them a fax with a new account number for them to transfer it to.

Hi Leslie,

I'm surprised they have still insisted the account is closed. Have you actually spoken directly with your business banking manager, or just with the counter staff?

hi julian,
im not sure i have a manager as the abbey business banking is only done over the phone, there is no counter service at all.
even if you pay cash in to your account through an ATM it takes 3 days to be credited.
they are not a very good business bank, thats why its free.
regards

Hi Leslie,

You will have a relationship manager somewhere, but they normally move around branches. I would suggest speaking to someone at your local branch who should be able to get you in touch.
