Im just doing a draft S of A and have some questions (this BR is in my name only and im estimating going BR within 1 month or 2 (well once i have the £500)
Sect 3: Assests
Asks for details of cash in Bank account - i only have 1 joint current account where my wage goes in and just as fasts goes back out to pay the bills - do i list this here and if so - do i put down how much is in there at time of writing?! Also is it worth me making arrangements now to get my wage paid into my wifes sole account and change over direct debits or wait until gone BR?!
Cars - i have a car worth £600 and another worth £700 - one 1 drive the other my wife drives - should i put my wifes car down (she drives it and is insured on it but in my name by DVLA) or should we transfer this car into her name - as we need both. Me to get to and from work and her to ferry or disabled child around i.e to and from hosp and new baby?! We really dont want to loose one of them as we need them both. (i have no other assets apart from these 2 cars, so worried they will take one)
unsecured credits
Can i also claim BR for an old Gas Bill (on top of other things)- this has been in dispute for a few yrs but they are adament it is mine and that i need to pay otherwise they will take me to court. LOL. This is for £350 and the bill is only in my name?!
Also i have a catoluge that i still pay off (well my wife pays it off) - do i have to include this or could i carry on just paying it off?! If i have to include it - what would happen to the things we have recived - would we need to return them?! As our sons bed is on there and other household things. This has £300 outstanding on there.
Firstly I would make the alternative arrangements for your wages now.
As for the car I would enter both vehicles on the SOA and explain to the OR that one is your wife’s although registered to you, you can then request to claim both vehicles as exempt property after that it is up to you what you do with them.
You can include the old gas bill and you will have to include the catalogue if this is in your name.
I put Nil as the amount in my bank account - as like you it goes in and straight out again. I imagine there will only be a figure on the form if you have hundreds in an account that the OR will be interested in. Hope this helps - shout if you need more advice!!
As Vicki says, list your bank a/c with nil balance as it will be frozen following your BR, so you will need to ensure it's empty the day before your BR.
