i got released from my b/r on the 20th may this year ,,,its been a real crap few years but i,m feeling very optimistic about the future ,2 years ago i really thought my working life was over as i just couldnt face having to start all over ,,and at 40 that was the worst feeling in the world ,,,i was angry at the world and blamed everyone for everything ,,i had it all big house great earnings and from the outside my life looked great ,,but really my whole personal life was a mess ,,i tried so hard to fit in somewhere and therefore had a lot of toe rags taking advantage of my insecurities and living in my pocket including family members ,,i had totally had enough and walked away just packed up and walked cut ties with everyone ,,so i had no income and just spent spent spent eventually i ran out of credit cards and ran up a tally of around £200k maybe a bit more ,,it seemed like a good idea at the time ,,anyway i was flat broke on my butt ,,being skint has taught me so much respect for money and i think the whole of the last 3 years has been cathartic,,my whole attitude has changed ,i,m a lot more wise to people and a much calmer person ,,,during the first 2 years of this time i had a reversed sleeping pattern sleep all day wake up hit the bottle and stay up all night driving myself mad and so it went on ,,then i started to slowly but surly get things sorted ,,i have over the last 2 weeks done all my health and safety courses and am about to go back to work {very nervous} i,m feeling happier than i ever have in my whole life ,,i have a very supportive girlfriend and the future looks good ,,lots of mistakes made but what an education if been ,,,anyway if your reading this you are probably at one of these stages all i can say is my life is starting to sort itself out and yours will too ,,take one day at a time and trust your instincts ,,in the early days i found this forum very useful even though i didnt really post anything just looked for a few answers ,,good luck to everyone and stay cool ,,,,,RW

P.S anyone have any idea when i can get a basic bank acc/ opened

Hi Hopeful

thank you for sharing

good luck with the future.

try CO-OP but phone them not an online application they are normally very supportive to BR.

The basic account is cash minder (no cheque books, No over draft but debit card and online banking)

keep focused on the future

regards Richard
