Hi myself and my husband where declared BR on the 2nd August this year, after a horrific interview with the OR (extremely rude and nasty) they have sent us an IPO form to fill in which we have done,at the end of the week we only have £38. I am worried sick about how we will afford to pay for a deposit on a rental property or how to put money aside for over the christmas period as my husband is self employed and does not get paid when he is off work. We thought BR would end our worries but it seems to have made them worse! Any advice on how to make things less stressful.

Thanks Sarah

Hi Sarah,
sorry to hear you are having such a bad experience.
I know our local housing dept in my area operate a rent deposit scheme whereby they help people with low or no income with the deposit for renting a property. Not sure how it works exactly or whether this is available in all areas but I know a friend of mine who recently split from her husband went to the housing dept and they paid her deposit for her. Just an idea, not sure if it is any help for you.
With regard to Xmas, not a lot I can say really other than I have opened a Credit Union account and put little bits into it when I can, I can't access it so easily as I have to go in and order the money from them and this stops me getting it and spending it so hopefully will have a little bit xtra for Xmas.

Good luck with everything, hope it all improves for you.

Went Br 20th July 2010..countdown for 1 year.
