Hi ,

My debts were caused mainly thru gambling . I went BR 3 oct 08 and after my initial interview didnt hear anything until june 09 when got called back for 2nd interview and was told i would be getting BRU . The paperwork came thru for me to sign in sept 09 .

I got a 4yr BRU

The general guideline when deciding if you are going to be the subject of a BRO where gambling is concerned, is that if the gambling aspect is 5% or less of the total liabilities then it won't generally be taken further. But if it's over 5% then it may be.

However in the present climate with the insolvency service, they are cutting back on FI work due to cut backs, so unless any misconduct is really serious, it probably won't go for FI, but it will still be for the OR to consider.

Hi Lee,

I declared myself bankrupt in March 2009 and I would guess that around 25% of my debt was through gambling. I did think I might get a BRU, but I guess I was very lucky. I am now discharged and never heard anything more about a BRU.
