Hi,

I have been bankrupt for nearly 2 months. How long does it take before all of my creditors are informed by the OR? I am still receiving letters off one of them

Lush,
write to them informing them of the bankruptcy date, the court and case number. Also inform them that as you are bankrupt, the debt is no longer enforceable and if they have any queries they should contact the OR's office that is dealing with it.

When I declared BR at the beginning of last year I was told the creditors are normally informed within 6 weeks however, as the ORs are so busy, it can take twice as long so anything up to 3 months isn't unusual.

Additionally, your bankruptcy is advertised in the London Gazette, and the insolvency register is a publicly available register accessible through the insolvency service website.
As getting out of debt says, most OR's offices are down to the bare bones with case clerks(the ones who send out the OR's report to creditors), so it can take a while before they receive the report. But creditors have no excuse because of the Gazette and insolvency register.

I had problems with one creditor who continued to contact me despite being notified of my BR by the OR. I sent them a copy of the BR notice and I didn't hear from them again.

It won't always work, but it's worth a try.
