Hi all
Both my OR and the Moonbeever comp has seen lots of my pay slips and in all of these there is a small bonus each mnth between £40-£70. No one has mentioned any problems with this an has been treating the end total amount as my salary...and its barely over £1100 pr mnth.
It looks like I will receive a slightly higher bonus of £80-£100 in next mnths pay slip......do I need to let anyone know..???

If this is a one off bonus, it is highly unlikely that the OR or Moon Beever will get excited. However if this bonus is to become the norm, I would suggest that you mention it to the OR to keep everything above board. You would be extremely unlucky if the OR took interest in disposable income of under £200 as he can omly take 50% of any disposable income at that level.

As Blackie has already mentioned, if it is a one off payment, moonbeaver will most likely not be interested. Saying that, last christmas I received a one off payment of £100 and I informed the RTLU, who promptly took 70% of it away much to my surprise. So much for being honest. I thought they would have let me keep the whole amount as it was a one off payment, or only a small percentage and not the maximum amount possible. I must have been unlucky and had a jobs worth chap. I will think twice about letting them know such things in the future.

I got a bonus last month for £538, i thought that they might take a large % of it, in fact they took the whole amount, gutted! I did mention that i read about ORs taking a certain % and they said they had never heard of that before. I do think it depends on where you live and who you OR is.

sorry to hear about your bonus (what bonus?). I'm sure they can only take a max of 70% of any income, which is what a bonus is. I would really quetion them about it as I don't think they had any right to take the whole amount. Did you speak to Moonbeever, your OR or RTLU?

if a bonus is performance related it may be seen as a windfall and not income as such then they can take 100% of it not just the IPA %%

Does the 'windfall' question still apply if you are discharged but in an IPA? I was under the impression that any monies which you win, such as the lottery or inheritance monies could not be touched once you are discharged?

windfalls after discharge are differnt eg. lotto wills etc. they are not income and are not claimable in an IPA but interest on money won would be classed as income and a % claimable in an IPA pre BR discharge it is more likely to be seen as windfall post BR discharge with IPA it would be more likely to be classed as income and % taken if at all post BR discharge with no IPA Who cares??? its all yours!!!!!!!!!!

I'd not work as hard for that year if that was me - what's the poing in slogging your guts out to get a performance related bonus which you lose anyway???

I'm sure your career prospects won't look as good either - I don't think the company would appreciate you not working as hard! I wouldn't take the chance with the way jobs are at the moment.
