Hi - I'm DBR now since April - I have held a cashminder since April 09 and its been run flawlessly, however I now need a business account to enable me to take card payments...
All I'm doing is reaching dead ends with the business account and I'm guessing the same will be true when it comes to getting the merchant services to as I've been told this also includes credit checks...supose BT will be the same to thinking about it
Does anyone have any advise or have they experienced this and found a solution?
Hi, I've had quite a bit of experience of this myself however, only when I was in an IVA(most banks see this as similar to bankruptcy anyway!). I started a second business during an IVA and needed both a business account and merchant services. After about 6 months of searching I finally found a FREE solution. RBS do a Foundation Business account as do Natwest I believe. You get a Solo or Visa Card which you can use anywhere, company chequebook, online banking. They do not offer overdraft or credit cards with this account or merchant services. Anyway, it's the best business account I ever had. As for Merchant services it depends what you need it for. NoChex do merchant services for online payment processing with no credit checks. If you want other merchant services i.e. processing card payments I used Perpetual Payments who allowed me to process card payments over the phone. Hope this helps!
Never had a problem with BT either. I opened around 12 telephone and broadband accounts with no problem or deposit. All of the above was for a limited company which you can set up for £20 or so.
Hi, Thanks for this - I've an appointment with NatWest - but need to get the certificate of discharge first as no one appears to want to talk until they can see one.
I also believe that Barclays will leave the decision to the local business manager.
Merchant account is proving difficult as I need a chip and pin
It seams Opal and Plusnet offer a decent phone / broadband service without credit checks.
