I became bankrupt in August of this year and started working as self employed around the same time. I have received a letter from HMRC telling me that they that have instructed my employer and pension payer to stop collecting tax...until next years new tax year when this will go back to normal. My question is....as I am now self employed and as yet not paying tax where do I stand? Will the OR collect the tax ..if any is due..next April? And could this effect my discharge date? I would appreciate any advice.

Hi,
when your self assessment is completed and submitted to HMRC, you will no doubt get a refund, but instead of it going to you, HMRC will send it to the OR.

It won't affect your discharge date
