Hi
Im hovering near to BR and sat in my garden tonight with my wife at our patio table and a thought crossed my mind ,if when BR the OR would take such items as patio table and chairs,I understand the obvious things like Plasma tvs etc would be taken, but i wondered how far they will go with taking things from my property in recovering money towards my large debt.
I have a vision of someone stripping my house of everything and thats a worrying thought
Any help to put my mind at rest would be appreciated
kind regards Kev

Hi Kevywevy
I think you'll be surprised to hear that they won't wome and take anything from your house.
Now if you have just gone out and bought a huge plasma tv for £2000 then the OR might want to take it and sell it to release some money - but the re-sale value of household items is that low that they don't tend to bother.
In the time I have been a member of this forum not one person has said they have had any item other than a car taken from them.
By the way - the car can be valued up to around £2500 before the OR is interested.
Your patio furntiure is safe, as will be the rest of your household items!

Hope this helps

Thanks vicki
Thats a relief to hear ,after two years of creditors hassling me and threats of losing everything i own to big guys banging on my door i guess i was not sure what the future held.
I am preparing to go BR and im looking forward to the pressure being lifted from me.

I know exactly what you mean. I have been there and know what its like to dread every letter, phone call and knock at the door.
BR isn't an easy choice but when it's the onle option it really isn't that bad.
It gives you a chance to hang on to your dignity (and your possessions!) - take control again and clear all your unsecured debt - start a fresh.
You'll get loads of support - we have all been there!
Keep posting if you have any more questions.

Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum.

I agree with Vicki. The only things the OR will be interested in is property with equity (which can be dealt with so you keep your house) and vehicles worth more than £2500.
