Hi All
Going to court tomorrow and alternate between sheer panic and calm. I am seeking advice on current bank acct. I recently opened new account as was living off the o/draft of other acct. I only have a debit card with no o/draft facility on the new acct, and my small wage is paid in weekly. I am so frightened of this being frozen and having no cash to live on over the Xmas period. I have read on the forum before that people have waited until the OR interview to tell them about the new account. I have nothing to hide and know honestly is best but am so scared of having nothing over this period. Rent will be due after Xmas plus all the big gas/elect bills.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
I didn't list my CoOp cashminder account on my SOA form but I did inform both the Judge and the OR during my telephone interview about the account. I told them that my reason for not listing the account was that it is for day to day living and for my wages to be paid into. Both the Judge and OR were both fine with this and they did not question it.
The only other thing I did was tell the CoOp once I had been declared BR so they could make a note on their records.
Try not to worry - everything does get alot easier

Thank you for your reply Carl, this has eased my mind a great deal. Merry Xmas to you and everybody on this forum. Couldnt have done any of this without the expert knowledge and empathetic posters. Just can't wait for it to be over. |

Don't panic toolong, honestly it's not as bad as you may think it is, I was at court on Friday, I too opened up a co-op account, was told by the lady who went thru my forms I had to list them but all they do is write to all creditors and banks listed to inform them of the bankruptcy, if it's a BR friendly bank, like the co-op, all they do is bin the mail, I already told co-op upon opening the account the reason for doing so and they were fine.. Good luck tomorrow and try not to worry too much :)

Thank you so much for your replies both. I might actually get a wink of sleep tonight after all. Good luck with your interviews too. |

Hi Toolong, You've done the correct thing by opening a basic account(Co-op cash minder I presume) with no overdraft facility, as your regular bank would have used your salary to offset the overdraft.
As long as your bank account is in credit, the OR may write to them to inform them of the bankruptcy, BUT to advise them that they have no objection to the account staying open, as it will be needed to receive your salary etc, and if it is the Co-op the cashminder account is bankrupt friendly.
I(as did a lot of people who post on here) told the CO-op that at some point I did intend to go bankrupt, and they were fine, so don't worry unduly, and have a great Christmas!
