hello everyone Ive been reading some posts already but haven't really found an answer as such Ive "upset" most banks apart from Natwest
I opened it to move away from being cornered into a fining situation and get more control on my outgoing
I've lost the battle now Im unemployed and from what Ive learned...my only option is Bankruptcy
I want to keep my natwest account, but its an advantage gold with an overdraft I have a good history with them, not sure if it matters what can I do to be able to keep some kind of direct debit facility? thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Natwest do sometimes allow you to keep a basic Step Account, but it's unlikely that you would be able to keep the Advantage Gold account.
Do you owe any money for the overdraft?
A lot of people on here have the Co-op Cashminder account which is definitely BR friendly.

Give NatWest a call and see if they will let you transfer your account to a Step account. The last thing you need is to have your account closed once you have declared BR and then have to rush around to try and open an account in time for your benefits to be paid.
Alternatively you can always open a Co-op Cashminder account 'just in case'. The account is very BR friendly and most people on this forum have one. You don't need to live near a Co-op branch as you can pay money in at Post Offices and there is online banking as well. |

I think my time has run out, I've just received a letter saying that because I haven't responded in time (it arrived just before Xmas ) I have 7 days to pay an amount I'm now unsure about the br forms wether to say I have been issued with court action or I'm about to be
so I guess my account will be frozen
I spoke to natwest they will remove the overdraft if I come in and sign for it
they offered to open a new step account but I'm not sure they'll let me open a new one
so co op might be a good idea, but when am I aloud to?

The best time to open a Cashminder account is NOW!, I did tell them i was going BR, and it wasn`t a problem. You don`t need to put it on your SOA, buy mention it to the O.R...they will not freeze it.
This is what i did, based on the advice given by the experts. |

thanks for the advice
Ok I went to co op and applied for an account they asked me what reasons for opening one with them...I told them I was close to bankruptcy and he said yes this won't have an overdraft but you will have the online debit card
he couldn't give me the ok there and then.... it will need to be refered...?
also went to natwest to remove the overdraft but the staff that could had already left so that'll be tomorrow now
