How Trustworthy Are you, Life After Bankruptcy v Employment

Going for a job recently (temporary/or permanent)the application forms arrived:
Q Have you ever defaulted on a loan/creditors?
Q Have you ever been declared bankrupt?
Q How much was the amount you owed in total?

It seems even though I have been discharged nearly 2 years ago, this never goes away. I was left red-faced at an interview. This came under the heading Forms to be filled in.
FINANCES/HOW TRUSTWORTHY ARE YOU? I thought it was meant to be a fresh start but I doubt I will be picked for a 2nd interview now as the body language changed completely when the form was checked in their presence. Like a criminal conviction, it is never really spent as such always comes back to haunt you as you have to declare it time after time. It should not make a difference but we all know it does. I was thrown by the ... how much money did you owe the creditors question? and I could not even remember the exact amount. It is a fresh start but when it comes to employment I am not sure it is. If you are already in a job may be but if you are looking for a job the question is always asked now. I wonder why the bankruptcy questions are put under the heading How Trustworthy Are You? My heart sank as I had to answer Yes to the dreaded questions instead of No.

That is a key thing to understand when you declare bankruptcy, it does stay with you for life.
