Hi can you tell me if the courts will take my girlfriends salary if I go bankrupt?

What I mean is we live together and have a child and im about to go bankrupt as my ex left me in massive debt, no one can give me a straight answer, I earn £1100 after tax and she earns £1500, our outgoings for the household are £1400 per month so after petrol and other staff I have £200 left and she has £700, will they just take my £200 per month and pay it to my creditors or can they illegally take her £700. She has nothing to do with my debt and apart from the rent and outgoings we have no financial connection.

Can someone give me some advise please?

Hi Adam

it is you who is going BR not your girlfriend

you must comply with the requests from the OR for your bank statements. she has no obligation to speak to the OR

one of the questions on the bankruptcy petition is about how much do other members of the household contribute towards the family bills.

another question is about monthly expenses, what do you spend money on

write down now everything that goes out of your monthly account down to the chockie bars you get as you fill up the car with petrol, this will help in the long run not just for BR petition.

again not a straight answer i cant do that as everyones circumstances are different

Richard
