Hi

I was discharged from bankruptcy 2years 6 months ago. i am thinking fo going self employed as a window cleaner. Would i be able to get a basic business account. I do not want to borrow any money, just somewhere to pay cheques and cash into.

Does anyone know or would i just have to go and ask and feel embarristed when they all say NO.

any advice

Hi Sahara,

I think Stu who posts on here opened a business account with Barclays after his discharge. Apparently he had to go into the branch, but he didn't have a problem.

Give them a try.

Good luck with your new venture.

I opened two new business accounts with Royal Bank Of Scotland whilst I was in an IVA(involvent) with no problem at all.
They informed me they only turned away people who were bankrupty at the time.
You get a cheque book and Visa card now and excellent customer service.

If it's a basic cashminder account it cannot be done online - has to be via phone or in branch.

Have you tried the Co-op?

The printed copy from the Insolvency Site should be fine.

I always used the Post Office when I used my Co-op account and to be honest I found that better than having to go into town to go to the bank!

I don't think you can use the Co-op Cashminder as a business account though...
