Hi Kathryn

it is a struggle and question that is often asked

some charities and utility companies previously had a fund but i am currently unaware of any of them that have money.

some works union or works welfare fund have a contingency hardship fund.

for ex military armed services support networks can help.

another option is to stop paying all of your creditors and put the money to one side to fund BR.

its not what they can take as in assets it is the phone, letters and chasers for payment that hurt.

if you are on benefits you can save court fees.

I ended up selling stuff at car booties and village fayres to make both of our court fees.

sorry no easy answer

Richard

Hi

As Richard P has said, there are some organisations that may be able to assist you with funds for BR - fewer these days of austerity though.

Are you in work? If so, a trade union may be able to assist.

Have you had any time in the services? If so, SSAFA and the RBL may be able to assist

You may ask the CAB to advise you on a strategy - that is free and very often very helpful. (I used to do voluntary work for them)

You may call CCCS a national organistation who will give you advice on debts and dealing with them

If you are not in work and on welfare benefits, you may qualify for an abtement on the BR fee (Not the court fee (£150)

Post back as you need to

Good luck, Housing

The phone calls and letters will be a pain, but as long as you stick to your guns and tell them you can't afford to pay and will be going bankrupt there's not a lot else you can do until you get the money together.

You can hope that one of your creditors decides to do it for you but that is unlikely as it costs them a lot more.

Your furniture will be quite safe.

Buckle your seat belt Dorothy, 'cos Kansas is going bye bye.
