Hi skelly - welcome to the forum.
The forms are a bit long winded but not too hard to fill in.
If you want local help theres the Citizens advice Bureau.
I had help through this forum and directly from Brett England (one of the experts on this forum)
Each of the BR assist experts have their own web page links - go through the expert link on the left hand side of the page.

You can complete the forms on line or print them out and do them by hand -whichever is easiest for you.

Hope this helps a little

I found the court staff really helpful and friendly. Didn't look down their noses or make me feel bad. I was really nervous about going but the weight off my mind was worth the worry.
Once you have got your forms and had a look through ask as many questions as you need to.
Feels good to start to take control again doesn't it?

Could someone please give me a link to a good site for filling in on-line and do the on-line forms give you a telephone support contact for assistance on completing?

Hi Kirstie

I think the best thing to do is contact each credit reference agency and complete a notice of disassociation. This in affect disassociates you from your parents to protect your credit record.

I have just done this to disassociate myself from my husband after my BR.

Hope this helps

By the way did you show the bank your credit report? Was that not enough to prove you aren't BR etc??

Hey Vicki, i did show my bank my credit record and my parents official responder have spoken to my bank as well saying i am not on the records of bankruptsy and because my parents are bankrupt it should not involve me or my partner, it used to be based on the household but is no longer done that way. they bank said there isd nothing more i can do, i did think about leaving it as i was told my parents bankruptcy would only be on their file for 6 month but read on here it is for 6 years, im really worried it will stop me getting credit in the future, i don't know where to start or anything as i never been in this situation before xx

One of the BR assist experts will be online either tonight or in the morning they may be able to tell you where you stand legally. You haven't gone BR so it should just be a case of disassociating yourself from your parents debt with each credit ref agency.

On your credit record is there a section that shows financial associations? Is there anything listed there that connects you with your parents debt?

You should be able to file a notice of disassociation with your parents at the Credit Reference Agencies, which effectively removes you as being linked to their bankruptcies.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

Hi Kirsty,

As Vicki and Melanie have said, completing the notice of disassociation should do the trick.
