Discharged today, well that year went quickly, although it was not without its ups and downs (mainly downs)! So if I win the lottery tonight (fat chance) can I keep all of the money? Seriously though if I inherit money, as a discharged bankrupt, can I purchase a property (no mortgage needed)? Also can I pay up my IPA early by paying a lump sum or will questions be asked by any interested parties? I have not received any money I am just thinking ahead about a potential inheritance.
Also, I want to say thank you to this site and its experts for just being here and helping me through what was a very difficult year. Peter |

Congratulations!
If you win the lottery tonight (although I think my name is on that one!!!) it's yours to keep. However and inheritance will depend on when the person died - if it's before you are discharged it will belong to the OR, if it's after it's your's to keep and do as you like with.
Regarding paying off your IPA, I don't think that this is possible.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last! |

Congratulations on receiving your discharge!
Once discharged you are no longer subject to the ' bankruptcy restrictions' therefore any assets obtained post discharge are yours to keep!
The normal course of events is that you will continue to pay your IPO payment for the full 36 months - as this payment is calculated on your income minus allowable expenditure.
Thanks for the praise of the site, please don't disappear, your experiences will be greatly appreciated by new forum members, having gone through the process and successfully out the other side!

Well you'll all be shocked to hear that I won absolutely nothing in last night's lottery but hey who cares I'm now debt free and happy. Many thanks to everyone for their kind wishes. I would also like to thank Ken at Reviva for his help in guiding me through the process. |

Well, the lottery winning was a bit of a let down!!!
Not heard off Tracey yet though, she has gone VERY quiet!!! Probably see her on tv soon with a bottle of Champagne & a BIG FAT cheque
Do keep posting though, it is always good to know how things pan out & your experiences could help others.
So pleased for you.

Sadly I've only been quiet as I'm off work tomorrow and was trying to make sure everything was up to date! I got 2 numbers so all my plans will have to wait!!!
