Hi,

Having discussed and mulled over the pros cons etc I have now decided that the BR process is my way to a new start. Has anybody got a list of allowables. I have looked at Skippys but just wondered what the realistic figures are for a family. 2 adults and 3 kids. I know what we are surviving on but could really do with know what in terms of the OR is a realistic amout.

I am basically looking at winding up my business (failed) and returning to work. The only way this is viable is to declare BR. I have spoken to Melanie, Julian and Paul Johns who have all been great and all directed me down this route and it has onyl really been my stubbornness/pride that has stopped me going BR before now.

The crazy thing is that I had landed a great job/good prospects but I cannot take it as a BR so I don't know yet what I am going to do but need to get this process done.

Apologies if the Allowables are somewhere else on the Forum but I could not find them.

Hi Introuble,

A formal list of allowable expenditure won't be located anywhere. If it was available, the OR would find that everyone has the same expenses. I would suggest putting realistic figures + 10% and you should be fine.

I put down what I actually spend. I was very surprised to be allowed such a high food/housekeeping budget though and I was ready to justify it but I didn't have to.

The best advice I can give you is be honest - if you spend it put it down, the OR can only say no.

You should put down what you spend, but the CCCS guidelines which are widely used in our industry provide minimum and maximum allowances. I can e-mail a copy of this matrix to you if you contact me via my website.

Does the OR go by these guidelines? I thought that BR allowances were more generous than IVA allowances.

I was obviously lucky then as I got very generous allowances - not that they seem so generous the way prices are increasing!

You may find a chat with a br assistance specialist useful as between Bretts compoany and Reviva Uk we probably help 30 people a month through Br.

So if you call with the court location probability is that we will be able to guide you through the regional variations etc.

good luck
