We thought that it would be better for our letting agent to hear about the BR from us rather than from a shock letter or phone call from the OR.

I made the call first thing this morning and my letting agent was really nice about it, i explained that we had got ourselves mixed up with NR snd had foolishily borrowed more and more etc .. She aknoldeged that it must have been hard for us to go down the BR route and also a lil embarrasing having to disclose it to her, she of course confirmed that she would declare it to our lanlord but did not see a problem with us staying in the property as we have always paid our rent on time etc ..

I feel so relived that this is the case and we werent made to feel like scum etc

Hi Tanya,

It's better that you've done it this way. I forgot to tell my landlord and I received a very interesting call from him once the OR had written to him. Once I explained that it would not affect the tennancy, he relaxed and was very cool about it. Most people are if you talk to them (except the creditors obviously!).

Oh yes i have also told a few creditors and they didnt sound vey happy about it. Just to confirm am i right in thinking that none of them would have enough time to 'take me to court' so to speak before the BR hearing?

Given the amount of time it would take to get a court date for a CCJ etc, they won't be able to do anything in time!

Wow thats a relief, It seems surreal that i am actually counting the days until the hearing, maybe then we will have a normal life (well a fresh start) and not have to panic about opening the mail or answering the phone!

Hi
Do OR has to inform landlords or letting agents by all means or itis an avoidable procedure by agreement.
