Hello all - quick question for you -

I work as a management accountant and am currently looking for a new role. I was bankrupt Oct 2008.

If i am successful in finding a role do i need to tell my new employer that i am bankrupt?

I ask because as part of the role i may be asked to become a signatory on the business accounts.

Many thanks

Hi,

My view is to tell any employer upfront. As a professional person who will require to be registered with a professional body (CMA, I assume), you would be asked to make any such declarations, I would imagine.

I know many professional people who have been BR and continue to practice without difficulty.

You may put the odd employer off or give them a thoughtful moment, but, better to be open from your first approach.

Good luck, Richard
