Hi and welcome to the forum.

Your wife will become liable for the whole amount I'm afraid as you are jointly and severally liable for any joint accounts and she would have to come to some sort of arrangement with those creditors if you are in arrears.

Hi Gail,

Welcome to the forum.

As Jan says, your wife would be liable for any joint debt.

When you say joint bills, do you mean joint debts or just joint household bills? If you mean your utility bills, council tax etc, you can carry on paying them and they will be an allowable expense.

HI Gail.

Have you received a court date yet ?

many creditors threaten to take you to court and make you bankrupt. very few actually do it.

can i suggest that you run one of the recent letters from your creditor by one of the experts, they can normally see how serious the threat is and how quick or slow you have to react

If you have any letters then you can always copy and paste the main part on the forum - be interesting for other posters to see what they may receive and what the advice is.
