is the council your only creditor ?
if so go in and visit them they may have systems in place to help.
if your total debts are under 15K research debt relief order you may qualify.

Hi and welcome.
If you only owe a small amount and have no assets and less than £50 per month disposable income then a Debt Relief Order may be better for you.
Speak to the CAB and they will advise.

A Debt Relief Order is for those with debts under £15k, less than £50 a month disposable income after priority debts have been paid, you don't own your house and you have no assets over £300. It will cost you £90 and lasts for 12 months.
Richard actually meant for you to go and research doing a DRO.
You can read all about them on here:

Thanks Jan
Craig most councils have a drop in service for helping with situations like yours.
as they are your only creditor I would encourage a visit.
