Hi everyone, I was declaired BR in Oct 2009 and discharged May 2010, today I got a 30 day trail on Equifax and I cannot really understand it? I phoned them but not understand what they said, but my credit rating is 242 very low and I see some of my creditors are still showing I owe them money? some have put settled too. How can I get this cleared as I want to go on contract for my mobile as it is cheaper than pay as you go I am on now. Any help on this matter would be great and I hope you can understand what I am on about. Thanks Dez |

Hi,
Your BR will remain on your credit record until Oct 2014 which is six years. You can write to those creditors who are still showing that you owe them and tell them to mark the file as settled.
You're unlikely to be able to get a contract phone at the moment unless someone else can do it in their name. That's what I've just got my daughter to do.

Actually I can't count! It will be on your record until 2015.

Jan
Would it be worth me writing or calling equifax and telling them about my credit report?

I would check the other two agencies as well - Call Credit and Experian to see what they have recorded against you.
You'll need a copy of your discharge certificate before writing to either the agencies or the creditors. If you didn't print one off when you were discharged you will need to get one from court and this will cost you - last I heard it was £60.

You do need to check all three agencies unfortunately.
The cost of a certificate of discharge has now risen to £70.
Have a look at this link and there is some good advice here:

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last! |
