Dear Experts,

Please can you help me and others to definitively answer a question on Bankruptcy and how long it stays on the credit file.

After many searches on the internet I found some forums where people mention that a bankruptcy stays on on your credit file for 10 years. In some cases they mention some rule along the lines of it staying on your files for 7 + 3 years. Is this correct? It thought it only takes 7 years. Please help us clarify the confusion.

Regards,

Jimmy "the Choo"

The figures quoted appear similar to USA chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy. Chapter 7 you are clear straightaway after discharge, chapter 13 you have to wait 3 years.
