Hi

I have been discharged from Bankruptcy for about 20 months now , I have spoken to a couple of lenders and no one would come near me at all , I am looking to buy a house and have a decent deposit will this get better at all or am I doomed for 6 years?

Hi,

I think that you will have problems until BR drops off your credit file. Just make sure you clean up your credit file beforehand so that as soon as BR disappears you are ready to go. Hopefully you will find a good deal at that point.

Hi

Thank you for that , I was advised differently , they said I would be able to apply for a mortgage straight after six years is a long time to wait to be able to buy a house , if I knew this I would have stayed on the debt management plan, Bankruptcy was made to sound great as a way out by the agency I used , and it has been the most difficult and demoralising time of my life ,

of course You can apply for a mortgage, they dont have to give you one, but you can apply, BTW you probably wouldnt get one on a DMP either and that would stay on your credit file longer.

How much of a deposit do you have

Totally agree that you would have been worse off on a DMP. As debtinfo says, you can apply for a mortgage, and I would try a whole of market broker, but it's unlikely that you will get one at the moment.

Hi

Thank you for all the information , we have a £18000 deposit , thanks to completing my degree and having a good job now so we are going on well I could potentially save and buy a car cash but it is important I start working on my credit rating again as well as my husband. All in good time I would think.

You need to write to them and tell them to alter their entry to satisfied and the default date can't be any later than the date of your bankruptcy order.

This happens a lot so don't worry, it can take a while to sort out though.

Hi

I have just been in touch with the receiver of revenue , she said that the court should never have granted the CCJ's as the debt was included in the bankruptcy , I have called the company and they said they will not amend their records and they will keep it that way

This is a disaster

There is a twist to the tail , CL Financial not sure if I am allowed to mention them please correct me if I can't , the bought over the debt from HSBC bank , they are now saying when I called them that they did not receive any notices at all and they were not notified , and the receiver is saying we quoted HSBC bank not CL Finacial , and the company that helped us with the petition, did not put CL financial and we gave them these details and they have admitted this now , so now we do not know were we stand so I stand to potentiall pay back £40000 not sure if were this will lead to I never received the paperwork for the CCJ that was issued in 2009 so all in all I have no idea what is going to happen I am really scared

First dont worry you are not liable for the debt.

You can ask the court to rescind the CCJ on 2 counts

1. You should have received the court paperwork and didnt so could not defend yourself.

2. You were bankrupt at the time

you need to ask the court how t make an application to do this
