Be careful about getting credit after br. I have been discharged a year and a half and have a clothes catalogue a/c with a 1k limit after paying it off each time I brought an item. I also save with a credit union who Previously offered me a loan and I have something similar to an overdraft with. These are all things I use to build up credit but am still in process of cleaning credit file.

Don't forget that your BR will remain on your credit file for six years after the court appearance.

You could try

High apr but they are very IVA and bankruptcy sympathetic.

You can rebuild your credit record by making sure your bank account is kept up to date and if you have a mobile phone contract then that should help. You can try and apply for a Vanquis credit card (high APR but if you use a little each month and pay it off straight away that should help) If you get a car via Duncton then that will also help.

Hi Amanda,

Not sure about car credit, but I am moving to a new rented property in the next few weeks and was accepted by a well known letting agents without the need of a guarantor, which surprised me as my credit is ruined for the next 4 years even though I am now discharged. It is well worth going and speaking to them about your situation as you never know what they will say and you don't know until you ask. I delayed it for months, but I am so glad I did it now and they were completely understanding of my position. You need to be completely honest with them about your bankruptcy though. There is hope for those of us renting though. I am living proof.lol.

Good luck.

I don't think Moneybarn ask for a guarantor but you have to put down a decent deposit. Not heard of anyone being turned down.

Not sure if Amanda is actually asking about renting a property - at least not on this thread.
