We're 10 months into bankruptcy and all was going well. We've had to make no payments or give over assets to the OR. The child tax credit office have recalculated our payments recently and decided they've underpaid us, we got a payment in the bank of £640.
Now under normal circumstances i would understand the need to hand it over to the OR's office. But for the last 3wks my wife has been off work ill, I'm full time carer for our 2 children so basically we're dangerously out of pocket and need the rebate cash to survive. We explained all this to the OR's office when we declared the money but have since had a letter requesting the amount in full be sent to them.
Do i have any way to appeal this? Can i offer to pay it in installments? And, if worse comes to worse, what happens if i refuse to send this money into them?
