I have read on this website that I can find out about full and final settlement where I can write off 50% of my debt and be finished within 3 months, but how does this work?

Hi and welcome.

If you are talking about bankruptcy then that will never happen.

With an IVA then you need to speak to a professional but there is no guarantee of the amount that would written off and unless you can make a good full and final offer then it won't be written off in three months.

Can I suggest that if this is what you are looking at then you visit the sister site www.iva.co.uk and seek advice from them.

Follow through
Make your dreams come true
Don't give up the fight
You will be alright
'Cause there's no one like you in the universe

Sorry Ken

dont mean to give conflicting advice,

yes it does and can happen.

yes complications occur and need to be able to negotiate hard or have someone to do it for you

edit after post settlement can be anything between 35 - 70 % but all about timing

Good Luck Richard,
