Hi at wits end

From the sounds of things you would not qualify for a bankruptcy but seek advice from The National Debtline - 0808 808 4000 - about appl;ying for a Debt Relief Order(DRO). Basically it is a government process whereby your debts can be written off in a year if you qualify. You would be eligible for a DRO if your debts are under £15,000, you have no assets and your disposable income ie. cash left over after you have paid your bills etc., is under £50 per month.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Blackie, I have to disagree there - he has a £9k card and an overdraft of £10k which takes him over the threshold so a DRO is not an option for him.

I think bankruptcy is probably the best option.
