I would like to share my experience of bankrupcy thus far. My husband and I both went bankrupt three weeks ago following 20 years of stress and heartache. During this time we both lost our jobs I had a nervous breakdown and we lost our house, all because the inland revenue decided that my husband was an easy target due to his then employer deciding he was self employed and not employed. Needless to say the IR sided with the employer and following a four hour grilling a bill arrived for over 20K. We then accrued a lot of credit card debt and loans just to try and pay off the IR and we went into a spiral of debt. In 2004 we contacted CCCs and set up a DWP which we managed over the years to pay off 36K. In April I was made redundant and in June we arrived back off holiday to find a letter from my husbands employers to advise he would need to take a 10 % pay cut or lose his job. In July with knees knocking we filed for bankrupcy, WHY did we not do this before. Everyone including the OR has been kind and understanding with not a hint of a big stick anywhere. I may get a BRU as I had spent my redundancy on a family holiday, but we had been living on a budget since 2004 and not been able to celebrate my daughters 18th, 21st her University degree and Masters, my sons 18th and my husbands 50th so rightly or wrongly I felt we deserved it.
Do not be scared of bankrupcy you Will see the world through fresh eyes and see the sky again, I know I do. I was drinking too much prior to bankrupcy however since then I have not touched a drink and do not want too YIPEEEEEEEEEEE |

I’m happy that things are looking up for you . After accruing many debts over the years and trying an IVA without success bankruptcy finally brought my debt crisis to an end....as it will for you. There will still be hard days but at least the end is in site. It may not be to your advantage to identify yourself on any postings you make on this forum...you never know whos looking. |

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side. |
