I have been outside the uk since i left in feb 2011, was in thailand for 4 months and now ireland for 3. I am not registered in either country or working or takking any benefits and all my letters/doctors info etc is still registered to UK address where i live for 13 years. I have been told I cannot file for bankruptcy now in UK as I have been out of it for 6 months, what can I do?/ I have recent letters with my name and UK address

its not that you cannot file for bankruptcy, just that if you are living elsewhere in the EU for the greater part of the last 6 months, then you would need to file for bankruptcy in the country you are living in,

so the options are carry on living in ireland and apply for bankruptcy, or move back to england to live and file for bankruptcy there
