Afternoon all,

I have just received some brilliant news regarding my IPA payments. I recently asked them to re-evaluate my IPA payments as my rent has recently increased and other expenditures have increased over the past few months. I was paying nearly £250 but they have now agreed to suspend the payments in light of my increase in expenditures and unless my circumstances change, this suspension in payments will continue until the end of my IPA in April 2012. I am so happy and relieved and it is nice to know that they are not monster (I never really thought that anyway) and they do try and help if you are finding it difficult to maintain the payments. After all my anxieties before deciding to declare bankruptcy back in 2009, I can honestly say that I am so glad I did it now and only wish I had seized the bull by the horns sooner.

Just wanted to share the good news.

Thanks everyone for your kind messages. Yes, I am on the home stretch now and although my credit rating will still be shot for another 3 and half years at least I am discharged and no longer paying the IPA..... and its a lovely sunny day on top of all that. What more could I wish for?.... well winning the lottery would be very nice, but I'm not going to be greedy.lol.

Have a great day everyone and thanks to all those who have helped me over the past few years with great advice and support. I couldn't have done it without this forum and the brilliant people on it.

Thanks

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

Actually, if I won millions on the lottery I'd be quite happy to pay some across to settle my debts!

Same here Jan! I still did the lottery while I was in my IPA and would have paid it all off if I won the big one!

Great news xmas baby, It must be a huge relief to you as your finances were so stretched.
Just shows that the OR's are only human & respond when provided with evidence.
Good Luck with everything.

Hi,

Yes, it is a huge relief and I must admit, I have never had any problems with the OR, or the RTLU come to think of it. Maybe they were impressed with my covering letter (although now I have re-read it, I come across as a babbling idiot.lol). Anyway, I couldn't be happier with their decision and at least I tried to keep paying the original IPA amount for the full 36 payments but only made it to 30. I suppose that's not bad. Had I known they would be so accommodating I might well have moved earlier and not endured my previous flat for as long as I did. Oh well, that's history now and I am looking forward to a new start, both financially and in my new flat. If this can happen to me, not the most luckiest of people I must admit, there is hope for everyone out there.
