Having been reading through a lot of posts including back dated ones i have noticed what is accepted from one person can differ from what is accepted from another, there seems to be no real guide especially when it comes to contingency, clothing/footware and Holidays/Birthdays/Christmas.

Just wondered if people who have had SOA accepted wouldn't mind sharing with others what the got accepted and what wasn't.

I have seen that Holidays/Birthdays/Christmas accepted for people and others are told not allowed.

Hi Sueann - if you look at the list of forums, there is one headed "Income Payment Agreements"
One of the post in there lists what is acceptable and waht is not. E.g Holiday allowance is, but Xmas/Birthday allowance is not.

Although, if one of your allowances is rejected it frees up more disposable income so you can still pay for these things in the long run.

Hope that makes sense!!

It's down to the discretion of the individual examiner at the end of the day - but I work on the basis that if you spend it put it down and be prepared to argue your point on the day of your meeting.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

Hi Sueann,

Melanie is indeed correct. The issue here is that whilst all courts and OR offices across the country work to the same guidelines, what is deemed acceptable does seem to vary. The best thing to do would be to put down your real expenditure and the OR will tell you what is and is not acceptable.
