hi, we want to enter into bankruptcy as we feel this would be the best for us at our age 60 and 63 but our son passed away three weeks ago after a year struggling with cancer, whome can we turn to for help in raising the cash to start the bankruptcy, from very stressed parents

Hello there, and a warm welcome to the forum

may I first say that i am so sorry to hear of your loss of your son, this must be a very difficult time for you both.

One of the best bits of advice I can give you is to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), they wouldbe able to help and advise you with regard to bankruptcy. Are either or both of you working? if not the CAB can provide access to schemes which can help you with the costs of fileing for bankruptcy. A face to face chat may be beneficial to you right now. Alternatively please feel free to contact either myself or any of the other 'experts' on here to have a full review of your circumstances over the telephone, or by email, as there may be other routes for you to consider. We can be contacted via the 'experts' tab on the left hand side of the screen

How much do you each actually owe? as this will be relevant as to the options available
Do you own your own home?

Please post further information or contact one of us direct for a chat
Hope thishelps, Melanie

Welcome from me as well.

I can't add anything to Melanie's advice, but I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your loss x

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.
