You can apply for the Co- op cashminer before you declare bankruptcy or straight after.

Co-op comes well recommended but you must apply either in branch or on the phone for the cashminder account.

Hi thanks. If you get one before you apply for bankruptcy can they freeze that account as well? Does this account allow you to put cheques in and have direct debits?

It's a normal bank account but doesn't have a cheque book or overdraft facility so cheques and direct debits are fine.

I think if the account is frozen it won't be for long. Just make sure you take enough out to pay bills before you go bankrupt.

Agree totally with jan. We opened a Co op Cashminder account prior to BR & arranged for all DD's, SO's etc to go through this account. We informed the OR of this account & it wasn't frozen. I think the OR's are well aware of these types of accounts. We have had no problems. Just make sure that you don't go overdrawn.
It is best to get this in place before BR if possible as you will have enough to think about!!
Good Luck & keep in touch
