i only have a basic bank account at the moment will i loose this account and have to open another one when i go bankrupt or will i be able to keep my basic account
You need to speak to your bank. Lloyds TSB, Barclays and NatWest are all banks that will allow you to keep a basic account if you have no debt with them, but you need to contact them first.
Failing that, I advise a Co-operative Bank Cashminder account. This is bankruptcy friendly and the Co-op will not freeze it.
Hi yvonne I too can recommend the Co-op Cashminder accounts. They are BR friendly & you should have no problem opening an account but I would recommend going into the branch rather than doing it over the 'phone as this seems to be more succesful. If you do decide to open a new account then try to get it organised before BR & sort out any wages paid in, DD's SO's etc, as you will have enough to think about around your BR date. The OR's know of these accounts & will not close them. Good Luck & keep us updated.
