Hiya , I was bankrupt in 2003 discharged i 2006( i live in Scotland and bankruptcy lasts 3 years here )I've been clear of my discharge for nearly 3 years now and I applied for a cap one credit card 2 months ago and was declined ... I think realistically credit wiil be hard to get until all your defaults, ccj's ( if you have them ) and details of your bankruptcy are removed from your credit file ( 6 years to date of your babnkruptcy ) sorry to be beare of bad news but hope i helped with the info

Don't take it too presonally. The banks aren't even lending to each other at present, let along the general public. Give it time and it will happen!

Your credit rating will be affected for six years from the date of the making of the bankrutpcy order - so it could be some time before you are offered lending at a sensible interest rate.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com
