Hi,

I really could do with advice on how to handle the Official receiver regarding my Income payment agreement.

I been paying £288 since march 2010, this ends March next year. I have never missed a payment etc.

I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant I immediatly advised them as I would need to start saving for Maternity leave and start saving for baby items as this is my firts.
I am the breadwinner as my salary is more then double my partners. My salary covers the rent and expenditure.
I resent a inome and expenditure list to them, advising I will be taking the full year materning, and I pay household expenses, I need to start saving etc. My salary I get out is £2100 and will drop to SMP...which is £128 a week..so that is a massive amount I need to save.
I got a letter back saying they are please to say my payments are reduced to £205... I was no impressed! I wrote back saying I am grateful but there was no way I could save from now a Minimum £500 amount to cover my rent etc when my salary drops and still afford that payment. If they not willing to stop the payment, would they accept £100, I could somehow manage that.

I received a letter today to say no. My payment stands at £205, and closer to the time of birth they would allow me a payment break to buy baby items.

I seriously was like WTF!!! is this right can they do that? I really would not be able to afford that and everything else I have to budget for. I have already trimed everything back that I can.

Is there a way around this? go to the courts directly and ask to relook at this?

currenntly I have to deal with the solicitors the OR appointed who then go back and forth to them.

am I fighting a loosing battle?

They won't suspend your payments so you can save up, but they can grant a payment break for necessary items.

Not really sure whether you can fight this one but maybe Debtinfo can offer some advice.

Yep as viki says they wont let you just save up, you are expected to live on the income you will have during the maternity period like many other people. They will allow some sort of break near to the birth to buy some absolutly essential items thata are required prior to the birth.

all IPA's can be appealed to the court, but if your argument is that you want to save up then you wont win

Thanks for responses, it makes sense what you saying just thinks it's a little unfair was asking them to reduce them anyway

Another question when my salary drops I can have it reviewed again right? As I will then only be getting Smp which is £128 ?

Can I suggest that for some items you try Freecycle? The goods are usually excellent quality, will cost you nothing other than fuel to collect.
