I own a property that I bought before I met my husband, but then put husbands name on it. He is now declared bankrupt and I am querying if he is allowed to have anything on his name being bankrupt. Please reply.

Hi Carol

Anything your husband owns at the time of his bankruptcy automatically becomes the property of the Official Receiver.

I don't want to alarm you but if 'put husbands name on it' means he part owned that property at the time of his bankruptcy then his deemed 'share' could be pursued by the Official Receiver.

Regards

Did you own the house outright or do you still have a mortgage? If so, who is making the mortgage payments?
