Defaulting payments after bankruptcy -
I have been bankrupt for 5 years and wondered when the defaults will stop.

Hi and welcome.

I take that you have been discharged from bankruptcy?

What you need to do is to write to any creditor who is still defaulting you enclosing a copy of your discharge and tell them to remove any defaults registered after the date of bankruptcy.

SO creditors can still chase you after for debts before? and/or still default you on your file during bankruptcy?

They can't chase you but sometimes creditors will continue to default, which needs sorting out once you're discharged.

The defaults need to go back to the date of the Bankruptcy.

As Viki says, creditors cannot chase you for debts incuded in the bankruptcy.

oh I see so you can write to them and ask them to remove it once your discharged?

Thanks - and sorry to the OP for interrupting your thread.

Unfortunately this did not work, my score has stayed at 986 (Experian) and I'm still unable to obtain a small loan for a used car.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.

Bear in mind that your bankruptcy will remain on your credit file for six years from the date you declared.

This is probably why you can't get a loan.

Dany, take no notice of the score, it means nothing. You need to just make sure that none of the creditors have defaulted you after your bankruptcy date, and that all the debts show as satisfied.

Once you've cleaned up your credit file, then you can maybe contact carloan4u who post on the iva forum or moneybarn. Not sure whether they will help, but it's worth a go.
