The bailiffs sent a bill for £360.50. I contacted them to say I would pay them on the 25th April which is my pay day. Today they have turned up at my address and gave my husband a letter saying that the total is now £537.44.
If you feel you have been overcharged, you should first take this up with the bailiffs. If the bailiffs won’t drop or reduce the charges, you could take the problem up with the relevant court or the local authority, for council tax bailiffs.
The courts or the local authority should make sure that the bailiffs they instruct are responsible and don’t overcharge. You could also complain to the bailiff’s professional body.
